It’s official – 24th January the most depressing day of the year

So…some clever boffin has spent his Christmas devising a formula that works out exactly which day of the year is the most depressing…and the answer is the 24th January.

Apparently, Dr. Cliff Arnall of the University of Cardiff didn’t get any presents or the flu, like most of the UK, and he stayed up all night coming up with:

 [W + (D-d)] x TQ
       M x NA

(W) weather, (D) debt, (d) monthly salary, (T) time since Christmas, (Q) time since failed quit attempt, (M) low motivational levels and (NA) the need to take action

Some people just don’t get into the festive fever that the rest of the consumer society enjoys! My guess is New Year’s resolutions made on the 1st January are always going to fail because of Dr. Arnall’s BLACK 24!

So this year I’m making a New Year’s resolution today – Chinese New Year – in the hopes that something will actually stick after BLACK 24.

And my resolution is to get my two left feet twirling on the dancefloor. You see…Merseyside Dance & Drama Centre in Liverpool has started a new adult dance class on Thursday’s at 7.30pm – Latin American & Ballroom and I reckon sexy salsa or raunchy rumba or tasty tango will get me in shape for the beach in the summer…you never know…I might even meet someone who will get me away from staring at a computer screen all day long!

Happy Moo Year of the Ox!
