Andrew Margerison Joins the Faculty

Andrew graduated from MDDC in 1997, and joined the number one UK tour of Grease (understudying the roles of Doody and Eugene), followed by the number one UK tour of The Rocky Horror Show (understudying Frank’n’Furter, Brad, Riff Raff, Rocky, Eddie/Dr.Scott, Rocky, and The Narrator). He then spent fifteen months in Germany performing as a Swing in Starlight Express. On returning to the UK Andrew Choreographed The Sound of Music at the Aberystwyth Arts Centre, before rejoining The Rocky Horror Show, this time as Dance Captain and Resident Director on the 30th Anniversary tour and West End run at the Queens Theatre.

Andrew’s Pantomime credits include Choreographer on Aladdin (Palace Theatre Mansfield), Snow White (Central Theatre Chatham) and, Jack and the Beanstalk (Beck Theatre, Hayes), Assistant Choreographer on Cinderella (Central Theatre, Chatham) and Snow White (Swan Theatre, High Wycombe), Lost Boy and understudy John Darling in Peter Pan (Palace Theatre, Manchester), Ensemble in Babes in the Wood (Theatre Royal, Norwich) and Dandini in Cinderella (Dubai International Conference Centre).

Andrew’s television dancing credits include Granada’s The Grand, and Channel Four’s And The Beat Goes On, as well as being a grand final winner on BBC TV’s Come Dancing. Other credits include principal singer/dancer in New York City Rhythm and Over the Rainbow onboard the MS Sundream and featured dancer in The Caribbean Dream Show for Showline Productions in Paris.

For the last five years Andrew has been Assistant Director, Resident Director and Children’s Director on the UK Tour of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. He also performed as Swing, as well as understudying the roles of Cogsworth, Lefou and Maurice. He has been lucky enough to travel abroad to stage Beauty in Athens, Kuala Lumpur and Malta. Last year Andrew directed and choreographed Liverpool Theatre School’s production of Bad Girls the Musical. He is a regular guest teacher at Steeleworks Academy in Stoke on Trent, and Preston College in Lancashire. Andrew is thrilled to be returning to teach at Merseyside Dance and Drama Centre and would like to thank close family and friends for their continued support. Andrew has recently qualified as a Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist.
